Responsibilities to new students:

• Participation in New Student Orientation
• Serving as a group leader for 4-day orientation trip
• Answering questions about the FYE course to which I am assigned
• Providing academic support to mentees throughout the year
• Serving as a peer advisor during registration (Blocks 2 & 7)
• Helping students make connections at CC that support their interests and needs
• Planning group activities for students in the FYE course to which I am assigned
• Meeting individually or in small groups with mentees during Block 1

Required time commitments:

• Participation in training during the spring and New Student Orientation Week
• Returning to campus on the Thursday prior to NSO
• Devoting approximately 10-15 hours to the mentor role during each of the Blocks 1, 2, & 7
• Devoting approximately 2 hours to the mentor role during each of the Blocks 3, 4, 5, 6, & 8
• Attending scheduled meetings with the Mentor Director and other mentors to discuss activities
• Meeting with the FYE instructor(s) to determine faculty expectations related to FYE course and students
• Completing mentor logs that document activities
