Applicants for admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) must have a (an):

bachelor's degree

cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (recommended)

grade point average of at least 3.2 in the academic major or teaching field (recommended)

strong liberal arts background

academic record indicating potential for successful graduate work and intern teaching

Once the application is completed, the qualified applicant will have a personal or phone interview with the program director. A committee will then review the applicant’s file to determine admission.

MAT enrollment is competitive and selective.

The High Mountain Institute Apprentice Program and The Colorado College Masters of Arts in Teaching Program are excited to announce a new pilot partnership partnership for the 2012-13 Academic Year. HMI Fellows would take courses at Colorado College in the summer and fall 2012 and join the HMI community in the spring to fulfill the internship component of the degree. Fellows would return to Colorado College after HMI for a second summer of course work and graduation. Upon successful completion of this fourteen-month program, fellows will earn a Masters Degree and an initial teaching license for the state of Colorado. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted into both programs through separate admissions.
