Jonathan Bredin is the first faculty member to join the department with a doctorate in computer science. While at Dartmouth his research focused on software agents and the various strategies they can use to bargain for resources on distant computer systems. Jonathan's arrival gave a boost to computer science at the college, and he indeed helped shepherd the introduction of JAVA into the curriculum. His expertise extends to computer security, and he often injects cryptography examples and anecdotes into his lectures.
Jonathan is an avid cyclist, has a pet hedgehog to replace an earlier chameleon, and enjoys hockey.
