Creating opportunity
Financial commitments to Colorado College’s most important priorities have one thing in common, creating opportunities.
• Opportunities for talented young people to become a part of the CC family
Financial aid is one key to offering such an opportunity.
The Walton Family Foundation is partnering with Colorado College to make significantly more scholarship funding available to students with deep financial need. Together, everyone can be part of growing our scholarship funds to help realize a CC dream for more talented students who could not otherwise afford to attend CC.

• Opportunities to honor and support our faculty
Faculty change lives, becoming mentors and friends as they help students develop the skills that are key to leading a meaningful and productive life.
Faculty support comes from annual gifts and from the creation of Endowed Professorships. Many such professorships are created to honor one of those faculty members whose impact and friendship made such a difference. Several such efforts are underway. These professorships in the making are only a few of the efforts underway.
• Opportunities to play, perform and study
Three new facilities are underway or in planning stages – all are high priorities for ensuring a strong future.
Sports and Fitness
Two distinctive CC student traits are a love of the outdoors and the desire to be involved in sports of all kinds. CC’s culture is one that fully embraces physical pursuits. The time has come to renovate El Pomar Center’s existing space and to expand it to include modern fitness facilities. The renovation of El Pomar Sports Center and the addition of a fitness facility are a top priority for Colorado College in 2011. The details on the current plans for the new facility are available. Arts opportunities
The Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center is now in operation. This interdisciplinary facility is all it was dreamed of. A limited number of opportunities still remain to place your name in that space, or to honor someone by naming a space for them.
Opportunities for study and research
A New Library-- Tutt Library has been the center of academic life at Colorado College since its completion in 1962. But so much has changed in that time — the College adopted the Block Plan and unimagined technological advancements have revolutionized how information is gathered and shared. The current library no longer meets our community’s needs, and we must undertake a substantial renovation and expansion of the existing one.
Colorado College’s library will be its true centerpiece — from both a symbolic and practical standpoint. It will be warm and inviting, with spaciousness and natural light.
It will serve Tutt Library’s established collections and programs, and enhance our capacity to provide new services and new technologies in the coming years. Study spaces will be integrated within the stacks, so that the printed word remains paramount.
The new library will have the flexibility to respond to the distinctive rhythms of the Block Plan, providing study seating for at least one third of our students at any given time.
• Opportunities to experience it all
Every Gift Matters
The Annual Fund supports the sum total of the Colorado College experience---everything that makes CC a unique, intellectual adventure. Unrestricted dollars from alumni, family and friends are crucial to sustain the College, each and every day of each and every year. The Annual Fund allows everyone—no matter their means, no matter the size of the gift—the opportunity to give back to CC. Your support of the Annual Fund not only provides direct and immediate support to the College, it also increases our alumni giving participation which is vital to CC’s future well-being.
