On-line Self-Assessments

The College encourages students to take the opportunity to assess their quantitative skill level and learn more about their learning preferences by completing a variety of on-line self-assessments. These assessments are not intended to be threatening in any way or to be used as a placement exam, but serve as an opportunity for students to learn more about themselves and to encourage students to become engaged, and reflective learners. Please contact the Quanitative Reasoning Center (227-8289) for suggestions of on-line assessments that will meet your particular needs.

Completion of the assessments/questionnaires is an optional activity, but one which is strongly encouraged. By completing these assessments/questionnaires, students agree to disclose the results or content to the Learning Commons professional staff they are working with. The results or content will not be used for placement, but will guide staff as they make recommendations.

Placement Assessments
  • Foreign Language Placement Test Students may take placement exams in a variety of languages at the Keck Lab (in Armstrong 303). Students are advised to take this test prior to enrolling in a language course as a mechanism of confirming appropriate placement.

In some cases, students may take a language test as a way of fulfilling the required language graduation requirement. Students can take a language test anytime during regular lab hours.

  • Departmental Placement Testing

Due to the quantitative nature of particular curriculums, it is recommended that students who have interest in enrolling in courses offered in select departments (Chemistry and Mathematics) seek advice from a professor within the department prior to enrollment. In the process of doing so, students may be asked to complete a short assessment. The results of this assessment will assist advisers in proper course placement.
