PAPER AND MICROFORM – 1790 – Present
The Census documents are arranged in a Special Census Section (C 3.X) in the Gov Docs open stack area. This collection contains census data collected at the ten and five year intervals, arranged in chronological order by the type of census. Within each year documents are then arranged by regular document call numbers.
The Population and Housing census for 1980 and 1990 are available in paper and microfiche. In 1980, we have paper volumes for Colorado and the United States Summary only (not all states). We have all volumes from the 1990 census. We also have the 1980 and 1990 census in microfiche (C 3.X 1: year). Index guides (found on shelving opposite the microfiche) must be used to access these collections. Maps for the 1990 Census are filed in the Flat Maps area under the original SuDoc call number (C 3.223: – .)
In the 1980 and 1990 Population and Housing census, Colorado Springs requested special reports on “Neighborhoods”. These studies reflect statistics for neighborhoods instead of census tracts. One identified neighborhood may include several tracts or parts of tracts.
