What are Reserves?

Materials which a professor has identified as being important to his/her course. These may include supplemental items such as scores, sound or video recordings, class notes, or required readings.

Where Are Reserves?

Items placed on reserve for classes are available at the Seay Circulation Desk or Tutt Circulation Desk. Items for music courses are generally available in Seay Library.

Who May Borrow?

Only CC students may check out reserves.

Searching Reserves

Reserve items may be searched in the TIGER catalog by faculty name and by course name. See the Course Reserves link on the library home page.

Loan Periods

Reserve items may be checked out for 4 hours; these must be used in the library. Exceptions to the 4-hour check-out period must be approved by the professor.

Circulating Course Reserves items may be checked out overnight one hour before the library closes. Overnight loans are due when the library opens for business the next day.

NONCIRCULATING RESERVE ITEMS (e.g., LPs, cassettes, and some books and scores) DO NOT LEAVE THE LIBRARY AND ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR OVERNIGHT LOAN.

Students are responsible for the timely return of all materials. The library may notify a student’s professor of major abuses of reserve policies.

Returning Materials

Reserve materials must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

Overdues and Fines

You are responsible for the timely return of all materials, whether or not you receive any reminder or overdue notices from the library. The library may notify your professor of any abuses of reserve policies.
