Boettcher Health Center

Colorado College welcomes our new partner for student health services, Health Professionals, Limited, which will be operating health services out of Boettcher Health Center for the 2011-2012 year.  The college embarked upon a yearlong review of how student health services were delivered and funded at Colorado College and in other higher educational institutions across the country.  We are excited that the partnership with HPL provides the college an opportunity to collaborate with a national health provider at a time of national health care reform and economic challenge.

HPL brings to the college broad experience working across the country with health insurance providers. This will allow Colorado College students to use their health insurance on campus, no matter what their plan.  HPL has also developed an electronic medical record and scheduling system to provide students with ease of arranging appointments and a capacity for medical data transfer to coordinate care with outside medical referrals.

Dr. Tanya Kern, MD, serves as the Boettcher Health Center Medical Director, with specializations in family medicine and sports medicine.  Ann Whitlock, ANP, has worked at Boettcher Health Center since 1999 and will serve as the Nurse Practioner for the clinic.  Lashun Harjo, RN, BSN, serves as the health services administrator and has day to day operational responsibility for the clinic.  They have gathered a team of nurse practitioners, RNs, and EMTs to serve Colorado College students, including maintaining overnight triage and overnight care beds for students with health concerns.  Boettcher Health Center can be reached at 719-389-6384.

Colorado College continues to sponsor a student health insurance plan (SHIP), this year through Humana, available to any enrolled student.  Lori Linzmaier serves as our insurance coordinator for the SHIP and supports the counseling staff.  Questions about the student health insurance can be directed to Lori at 719-389-6386.

Colorado College continues its relationship with Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Services, which is able to work with students in need of physical therapy and rehabilitation from injuries, medical conditions, and surgery.  RMR can provide services to students at Boettcher Health Center by appointment with RMR, or students may access their services at the nearby downtown location.

The college and the health professionals with whom we partner are committed to supporting Colorado College students’ health with an understanding that healthy students are best equipped to fully engage the educational opportunities available through Colorado College curriculum and programs.
