Faculty Advisor from Sociology

Professor Giuffre received her B.A. from Harvard University and went on to pursue an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her main areas of interest are the sociology of culture and art, network theory, and sociological theory. She does field work in the South Pacific and therefore, has a strong interest in Polynesian societies. Her current research is focused on the social organization of creativity and innovation. This work grew out of previous work she did on the effect of artists' social networks to their success, studies of popular and high culture, and studies of deviant youth subcultures.
